I joined the Government in late June 2019 and have stationed in the Lo Wu Section of the Immigration Department—responsible for general administration—since July 2019. I was, at first, a bit uneasy as the practice and working style in the Government are different from those in the private sector. Luckily, thanks to my colleagues and batchmates who are always more than willing to offer help and advice, I have been able to pick things up at a relatively fast pace. I enjoy working in Lo Wu and look forward to all the days to come. |

I was interested in joining the ‘family’ of EOs because I enjoy learning new things and taking up challenges. Being an EO enables me to be exposed to various interesting environments and meet people from different walks of life throughout my career. I am always satisfied whenever I demonstrate a strong learning capacity and adaptability to new challenges in different contexts. Capability helps partially, but attitude means more. I believe if one is positive and resilient enough, you can always search for meaning in every setting and role. |

加入行政主任職系後，我被派到民政事務總署行政科第一分科工作。日常職責包括管理人力資源，以及處理各項公務員獎勵計劃和同事根據《接受利益(行政長官許可)公告》所作的利益申報。
處理人事工作，自然會接觸不少人和事。入職不久，我已被排山倒海的人事檔案包圍，活像一個圖書館管理員。人事工作雖然繁複，但人比事更繁複。你可從藍皮檔案窺探每個人的故事。檔案厚薄，反映各人的歲月年輪。對外人來說，檔案中的文件不過是行政記錄；然而對員工而言，那一紙文書可能是人生的新章。人事檔案不一定只記下升遷事宜，生活的大小點滴—無論是找到人生的另一半、置業添丁或甚至傷風感冒，都一一記錄在案。儘管大部分人的故事都離不開三部曲：聘任、晉升、離職，然而，未必人人都年屆退休之齡才離職。有人捧着退休紀念品載譽歸去；有人黯然結束公職生涯；也有人悄然離開。
人生匆匆，大家登上這部列車，各有因由。有人提早下車，有人乘坐到終站。往事悠悠，當政府的文件仍未全然電子化，我們慶幸仍能翻閱舊日的檔案，觸摸那份年華的質感。在那泛黃的聘書上，她可有流過兩行熱淚？警告信上的摺痕，可曾壓擠着他的不忿？獲頒四十年長期服務獎的她和即將退休的他，不知道又有何感想？
上司常說，處理人事要格外小心，或者是因為人是有感情的。在人事組工作，你會接觸到很多故事。你未必會看到故事的始末，但這些故事會教你更珍惜身邊的人和事。 |

Upon assumption of my duties, I realised human resource management is not merely procedures. It encapsulates important episodes of our colleagues' lives. From a colleague’s joy of a newborn to the sadness of external farewells, human resource management will nonetheless be involved. Their vicissitudes in life or strokes of luck lead to daily novelties at work.
As a new intake, I have recently been through the recruitment process. Thus, I am more able to empathise with applicants' concerns. I am lucky to have been accommodated in a room with three EOs who are more experienced and very willing to share. Therefore, I can provide apt solutions to address imminent concerns of both applicants and my colleagues.
From the colleagues' insights to my daily encounters, I found Winston Churchill’s quote very helpful, “Out of intense complexities, intense simplicities emerge.” Human resource management can be complex, but care and sympathy can always solve any challenges. |

起初知道被派到食物環境衞生署轄下的牌照組(其他牌照)，既好奇又期待，心中有着這個疑問：什麼是「其他牌照」？原來牌照組簽發的牌照涵蓋多個食物業及行業，例如舉辦大型美食展覽，需要申請臨時食物製造廠牌照。正因如此，負責「其他牌照」事務的助理秘書的其中一項「福利」，是能提早知道有什麼參展商。另外，牌照規管制度能讓市民安心食用產品，有利業界營商，這給予我一種使命感，也是這份使命感驅使我加入行政主任職系。 |

加入行政主任職系後，我的第一個崗位就在區議會秘書處工作。從工作中我明白到謹言慎行的重要性。由於經常與各部門及區議員聯繫和處理市民的查詢，我需要考慮周全，所作回覆必須準確清晰。 |

As a new recruit, I am so glad to be part of the EO Grade. Thinking back to the day that I decided to apply for the post, what interested me most was the well-structured training and learning opportunities provided. These extended training exposures can help me grow and excel in my career, as well as in the aspect of personal development.
I am now working in the Civic Education Section of Home Affairs Bureau, mainly responsible for monitoring various social media platforms of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education and assisting in the production of ‘The Clay Family 小泥子’, a civic education publication for children aged 4–7. Witnessing the production of ‘The Clay Family’ from scratch—with just a text draft and storyboard, to delivering the hardcopies to kindergartens and NGOs has given me a great sense of accomplishment and job satisfaction. |

新入職時，我曾誤以為在職家庭津貼辦事處(在職津辦)等同學生資助辦事處，又或是關愛共享計劃。其實該部門已經成立五年，由2016年5月起正式為公眾提供服務。
在職津辦的二級行政主任多數擔任助理經理，負責處理在職家庭津貼申請。我新來乍到，什麼也不懂，霎時要帶領文書職系同事處理申請，擔心應付不來。幸好在職津辦有很多二級行政主任，而我的上司也隸屬這個職系，各人都主動幫忙，不吝賜教，提醒我種種須注意事項。他們不單協助我處理日常工作上的難題，還向我提供不少有關職業發展的建議。 |
