General Grades Office

The General Grades Office, headed by the Director of General Grades, functions as an agency under the Civil Service Bureau. The Office comprises four sections, namely Executive Section, Clerical & Secretarial Section, Training and Development Section and Civil Service Examinations Unit. It is responsible for the recruitment, management, training and career development of around 32,000 General Grades staff for the purpose of providing effective and efficient executive, clerical and secretarial services in policy bureaux and departments. It also organises the Common Recruitment Examination and assists bureaux and departments to conduct written examinations for appointment purpose.
