Examination Matters

The Civil Service Examinations Unit organises the Common Recruitment Examination, the Basic Law Test (Degree / Professional Grades) and the Government Standard Examination. Some bureaux and departments also conduct other examinations for appointment purpose.  These examinations provide an objective way to assess candidates' competencies in skills or attributes required for the post under consideration.  Examination results are sometimes used for shortlisting purpose.
