Seminar on "Personal Protective Equipment" A seminar on personal protective equipment (PPE) was organised on 12 December 2001 to enhance civil servants' knowledge and awareness of the importance of PPE in ensuring personal safety at work. L H Ng, Senior Divisional Occupational Safety Officer, and K P Fung, Occupational Hygienist of the Labour Department and Dik Choy, Consultant of the Occupational Safety and Health Council, were invited to introduce to participants various kinds of PPE for different parts of body and different work situations. The seminar also elaborated on the criteria in selecting proper PPE to suit different job requirements. The equipment covered included safety helmets, eye protectors, ear protectors, safety gloves, safety shoes, respirators and safety belts. About 300 colleagues attended the seminar.
