8 February 2005

Dear Colleagues,

Lunar New Year Greetings

Roosters wake us for a new day and hens lay eggs for new births. At the dawn of a new year, I wish our fellow Hong Kong citizens a brighter future full of hope and vigour.

In the Year of the Rooster, our Hong Kong team of civil servants will, as always, follow the fine tradition to serve the community with diligence and dedication. I am confident that we will do even better in the days to come. It is my wish that the community will be generous enough to give encouragement and recognition to government departments and their staff for praiseworthy achievements.

The hardest time is finally behind us. Looking to the future, I hope that Hong Kong will continue to enjoy stability and economic growth. I also wish each member of our community, including our civil service colleagues, good health and great fortune.

Yours sincerely,

[Joseph W P WONG ]

(Joseph W P Wong)
Secretary for the Civil Service
