Civil Service Occupational Safety and Health Day

Let's Join Hands to Promote Occupational Safety and Health

The Government is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for its employees. In conjunction with the Working Group on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the Civil Service (on which the OSH Council, the Labour Department, the staff sides of the four Government's Central Consultative Councils and selected governments are represented), the Civil Service Bureau has been promoting OSH in the workplace through service-wide educational and publicity activities.

As one of the major promotional activities organised this year, the Civil Service OSH Day took place on Saturday, 12 November 2005 in the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. The event aimed to further enhance awareness in the civil service of the importance of OSH in the workplace, and demonstrate the collective commitment of both the management and the staff sides in this regard.

We were delighted to have the OSH Council, the Labour Department and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) as co-organisers of the event. Representatives of both the management and the staff from 44 bureaux and departments joined the Civil Service OSH Day to demonstrate their joint commitment in the promotion of OSH in their workplace. Apart from this, the following 14 departments joined a telematch on the day which was designed to instil OSH messages among participants through simulation games and quiz on OSH knowledge. After a series of competition, the awards went to:
