The Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme, organised by the Civil Service Bureau at biennial intervals since 1999, aims at promoting a customer-focused culture in the Civil Service. Apart from recognising the achievements of winning departments and teams in the provision of outstanding service, the Scheme inspires other departments and fellow civil servants to emulate the best practices of the winners and to strive for continuous improvement.
The winners of the 2011 Scheme were announced at the prize presentation ceremony held on 12 September 2011. A total of 45 entries from 29 bureaux and departments were given awards. Among the award-winners, some set benchmarks for best practices, some inspire by going the extra mile, and some herald new and innovative services. All of them are shining role models for fellow colleagues in the Civil Service.
Officiating at the ceremony, the Acting Chief Executive, Mr Henry TANG commended the winners for achieving wide recognition and support from the general public as well as high commendation in the international community.
Another officiating guest the Hon IP Wai-ming, one of the chairpersons of the adjudicating panels for this year’s Award Scheme, was impressed with the quality of the entries. He encouraged civil servants to take the winning entries as examples and to continue to deliver quality services to the public. Ms Quince CHONG, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence, also complimented civil servants’ on-going commitment to continuous improvement.
Once again, my warmest congratulations go to all the award-winners this year. I am confident that the Civil Service remains, as always, committed to serving the community.
To promote the commendable efforts of the award-winners, the Civil Service Bureau has arranged to present the winning entries in a one-hour TV episode on TVB Jade at 7:30 pm and on Hong Kong Broadband bbTV (Channel 201) at 9:30 pm on Saturday, 22 October 2011.
I would also like to express my gratitude to our fellow RTHK colleagues for producing the TV programme. Let's enjoy the programme with our families to share the joy of the winners and support the Civil Service.
