Transcript of remarks by SCS

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang, at a media session after attending a radio programme today (July 5):

Reporter: What sort of follow-up, what will you be doing on Mr Mak's case?

Secretary for the Civil Service: I think of course we will find out a bit more, actually what it is all about. As far as I am concerned and I have already explained, provided the conditions were met, I don't think there is any issue of improper conduct involved.

Reporter: Are you saying that Mr Mak has not done anything wrong but it is just the system? There is a problem of the actual housing system?

Secretary for the Civil Service: I think the important thing is that the requirements under the particular system were met. I think this is the most important thing as far as the Civil Service Bureau is concerned.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
