The Secretary for the Civil Service's Commendation Awards Presentation Ceremony 2004

The Secretary for the Civil Service's (SCS) Commendation Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at the Studio Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui on 17 September 2004.  The commendation awards were presented to civil servants for their consistent meritorious performance in their daily work.

The Chief Executive(CE), Mr Tung Chee Hwa, also attended the cocktail reception held after the presentation ceremony to share the joy of the recipients.

This was the first presentation ceremony held for the scheme since it was introduced early this year. Altogether 75 civil servants from 48 grades and 37 departments were commended.

The HKSAR Government values the positive contributions made by members of our civil service.  Through the Departmental Commendation Letter Scheme and the Chief Executive's Honours and Awards System, deserving civil servants were recognised for their exemplary performance in serving the community.  Following a review and consultation with departments and staff side representatives, the Secretary for the Civil Service's Commendation Award Scheme was introduced earlier this year as a separate tier of award between the CE's Honours and Awards System and the departmental Commendation Letter Scheme.  The scheme is launched to give awards to civil servants for their consistent meritorious performance in their daily work.
