Applications for Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test open tomorrow
Prospective applicants for civil service posts at degree or professional level can apply from tomorrow (August 2) to sit for the Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test (Degree/Professional Grades) (CRE and BLT) on October 4 in Hong Kong.
The CRE and BLT will also be held in seven other cities - Beijing, London, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney - on November 29 to facilitate the taking of the examination by those studying or residing outside Hong Kong.
A spokesman for the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) said that valid CRE results were required of applicants for civil service posts at degree or professional level. Persons who are interested in applying for civil service posts at degree or professional level in the near future may wish to consider sitting for the coming examination, so as to be eligible to apply for these civil service openings that might be available before another CRE is held.
For civil service jobs requiring degree or professional qualifications and advertised from September 1, candidates will need to have taken a BLT. The test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate for a job. Candidates applying to sit for the CRE may also apply to take the BLT.
For the coming CRE and BLT, holders of degree or professional qualifications, or university students who will have attained a degree in the 2008-09 academic year may apply.
People interested in sitting for the coming CRE and BLT may apply from tomorrow through the on-line facilities on the CSB homepage at www.csb.gov.hk, or using the CRE and BLT application form (CSB31 (8/2008)) which can be downloaded from the CSB homepage or obtained from any of the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices or Job Centres of the Labour Department. Applications must be made before 5pm on August 15 (Hong Kong time).
More details about the coming CRE and BLT will be available on the CSB homepage from tomorrow. Enquiries may be made to the Civil Service Examinations Unit by phone at 2537 6429 or by email to csbcseu@csb.gov.hk.
