Appointment of Commissioner of Rating and Valuation
The Government today (January 9) announced that Deputy Commissioner of Rating and Valuation Mrs Mimi Brown Tsang Mui-fan would succeed Mr Lo Hing-chung as Commissioner of Rating and Valuation with effect from January 15. Mr Lo will proceed on pre-retirement leave on that day after more than 39 years of service.
Speaking on Mrs Brown's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, said, "Mrs Brown has extensive professional experience in rating and valuation work as well as profound administrative and leadership skills. I am confident that she will ably lead the Rating and Valuation Department to meet the challenges ahead and deliver quality service to the public."
On the retirement of Mr Lo, Miss Yue said, "Mr Lo has rendered dedicated and meritorious service throughout the years and made commendable contributions in enhancing the professional services provided by the Rating and Valuation Department. We wish him a happy retirement."
Brief biographical notes on the two officers are set out below:
Mr Lo Hing-chung, JP
Aged 59, Mr Lo joined the Government as a Valuation Assistant Class III in September 1968. He was promoted to Principal Rating and Valuation Surveyor in November 1985, to Assistant Commissioner of Rating and Valuation in June 1994 and to Deputy Commissioner of Rating and Valuation in December 2004. He has been the Commissioner of Rating and Valuation since November 2006.
Mrs Mimi Brown Tsang Mui-fan, JP
Aged 53, Mrs Brown joined the Government as a Valuation Assistant Class II in October 1977. She was promoted to Principal Rating and Valuation Surveyor in August 1995 and to Assistant Commissioner of Rating and Valuation in July 2000. In November 2006, she was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Rating and Valuation.
