Appointment of Director of Fire Services
The Government announced today (November 28) that Mr Lo Chun-hung, Gregory, Deputy Director of Fire Services, will succeed Mr Kwok Jing-keung as Director of Fire Services with effect from December 3, 2007. Mr Kwok will proceed on pre-retirement leave on the same day after 36 years of service.
Speaking on Mr Lo’s appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, said,“Mr Lo has proven administrative skills and solid experience in the work of the Fire Services Department. I have every confidence that he will ably lead the Department to face the challenges ahead and deliver quality service to the public.”
On the retirement of Mr Kwok, Miss Yue said, “Mr Kwok has rendered dedicated and meritorious service throughout the years and made commendable contributions in promoting fire safety and enhancing the firefighting and rescue capabilities of the Department. We wish him a happy retirement.”
Brief biographical notes on Mr Kwok and Mr Lo are set out below:
Mr Kwok Jing-keung, FSDSM, JP
Aged 56. Mr Kwok joined the civil service as an Assistant Station Officer in August 1971. He was promoted to Deputy Chief Fire Officer in August 1994, to Chief Fire Officer in September 1996, and to Deputy Director of Fire Services in January 2003. He assumed the post of Director of Fire Services in December 2005.
Mr Lo Chun-hung, Gregory, FSDSM
Aged 52. Mr Lo joined the civil service as a Clerical Officer II in June 1973. He was then appointed as an Assistant Station Officer in the Fire Services Department in January 1975. He was promoted to Deputy Chief Fire Officer in February 2002 and to Chief Fire Officer in September 2004. He assumed the post of Deputy Director of Fire Services in December 2005.
