SCS visits Tsuen Wan District
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, this afternoon (September 13), visited the Tsuen Wan District to learn more about the district's developments.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Tsuen Wan District Council, Mr Chau How-chen, and the District Officer (Tsuen Wan), Mrs Alison Lau, Miss Yue's first stop was Tin Liu Village in Ma Wan.
Tin Liu New Village is located in the middle part of Ma Wan. It was originally named Tin Liu Village and was moved to the recent location following the large-scale comprehensive developments in Ma Wan. The outlook of houses in Tin Liu New Village were characterised to match with the style of the neighbouring housing developments.
There are about 400 residents in Tin Liu New Village. Most of them are indigenous inhabitants whose surname is "Chan". Miss Yue visited the Chan's Tsz Tong which was opened in early 2006. The Tsz Tong is divided into an ancestral hall and a courtyard, occupying an area of about 65 square metres. She then visited a villager's house.
Later, Miss Yue went to the Tsuen Wan Market which was opened in 1981. There are more than 300 stalls in the two-storey building selling fresh meat, fruits, roasted meat as well as wet and dry goods. Miss Yue took the opportunity to talk to some of the shop owners and buyers.
The final stop of her visit was the Tsuen Wan District Council. At the tea reception, Miss Yue met District Council members and exchanged views on district issues.
