Welcoming speech by SCS at the Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2007
Following is the translation of the welcoming speech by the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, at the Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2007 today (September 13):
First of all, on behalf of the Civil Service Bureau, I would like to welcome all of you to the Prize Presentation Ceremony of the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2007 to join me in paying tribute to the winning departments and teams.
The Award Scheme has now entered its 8th year since its launch in 1999. This year, it received a most enthusiastic response and attracted nearly 130 entries from 49 departments to compete for the highest honours of the Departmental Awards and Team Awards. The variety of services provided by the participants, many of them being first-timers, does not only reflect the diversification of public services, but also the perseverance and commitment of government departments and our civil service colleagues in pursuit of service excellence.
With so many departments and teams providing top quality services taking part in the Award Scheme, the competition was very fierce, making adjudication an extremely difficult task. My special thanks go to the 63 adjudicators for the great efforts they made. They applied their extensive experience and expertise in a fair and independent adjudication process and selected the winners for each category of awards in an impartial and rigorous manner.
Also, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong Management Association, our co-organiser, for its assistance and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce for its generous sponsorship. Without their support, this year’s Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme would not have been such a success.
Thank you.
