Tour to the Observatory On 7 July 2007, volunteer teams of Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) and Civil Service Bureau (CSB) jointly organised the activity "Tour to the Observatory". Around 40 underprivileged students from the Fukien Middle School joined the event. The activity mainly aimed to introduce the youngsters the duties and daily operation of HKO. It also aimed to arouse their awareness of the need to conserve the environment and protect our Earth. The activity comprised a briefing on the work of HKO and the global effects of climate change by HKO volunteer team. It was then followed by a quiz on the contents of the briefing, with souvenirs and gifts presented to students who performed well in the quiz. The volunteer teams of HKO and CSB also led the participants to tour around the HK Meteorological Centre, the exhibition hall and the history room, showing them the equipment used daily by HKO for climate forecast including rain gauge, wind vane, thermometer, mercury barometer, etc.
