Civil Service Volunteer Action Awards Presentation Ceremony

The Civil Service Volunteer Action Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at Hong Kong Central Library on 31 January 2008. More than 250 representatives of civil service voluntary service teams and guests attended the ceremony. Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, presented 64 awards to 40 civil service voluntary service teams as a tribute to their dedication to voluntary work and contribution to the well being of the community.

Since the launch of the Civil Service Volunteer Action in April 2007, up to October 2007, members of the voluntary service teams from more than 40 departments and their families had participated in voluntary services. It is so encouraging that over 4,700 participants had spent in total more than 37,000 hours on voluntary service, organising or attending more than 300 events.

After the ceremony, Miss Yue met with the 40 representatives from the civil service voluntary service teams. She encouraged team members to continue to live out the spirit of "We care, we volunteer", by serving the community and helping those in need together with more colleagues and their family members.
